Happy 18 months Ryleigh!

Ryleigh is 18 months old today!

She has officially left baby-hood and has fully embraced toddler-hood. She is talking or trying to talk more every day. She gets into and is curious about everything! The other night she discovered how to climb our step ladder, elevating her to all new heights. We're in trouble now!!

Here are her current stats.

She's about 23 pounds.
She wears a size 5 diaper.
She into size 18 month clothes and can pull off some 12 or 24 month dresses, and 24 month pants.
She wears a size 5 shoe.
She is finally getting hair, it's even starting to curl around her ears. But she still won't let me put the cute clippies I've made in her hair. It has to be a bow and a headband!
She still loves her babies and her books.
She loves coloring and will often ask to "draw"
She has started to sit in her chair and talk on the telephone, carrying on entire converstations just like a teenager.

She used to have all these squirty toys and a boat in the bath. But recently we noticed she's bored with those, so we got a floating drawing desk and tub crayons. She LOVES coloring in the tub.

The crayon comes off very easily.

And yes, she likes coloring on herself too. She decided to try coloring up her nose and see how that went.

But she is super smart. All morning she played with her pillow in the living room. She found the other pillow case on the end table. She tried to put it on calling it "pants". This is what she was going for:

She's so happy she got her covers on to go with her pillow. She's so proud of herself!

New Seats

We haven't been up to much, just running errands and hanging around the house. Ryleigh and I have had a cold for about 2 weeks now. I am doing much better. Ryleigh isn't as cranky, but she still has a very stuffy nose and has just gotten a very deep wet cough. I took her to the doctor on Friday because Ryleigh was pulling on her ears and her cough was getting worse, but they say it's just a cold.

So last weekend I noticed that whenever I'd go to the bathroom Ryleigh would chase me in there and then sit on this plastic box we have in there. So we decided to get her a potty chair to replace the plastic box to get her used to the potty chair.

She's still not ready to potty train, but we figured it was a start.

Ever since Christmas time we wanted to get Ryleigh a toddler chair for her to read her books in, watch her shows, etc. She's been sitting on this blanket from my room and dragging her boppy from her room into the living room to sit on. So she needed her own seat. My grandma had given her a gift card for Christmas, and I had intended to use it for her chair, but hadn't found one I liked. I was at Babies R Us yesterday and saw a chair that matched her crib bedding set. It was perfect and Ryleigh loved it!

(Yes, she looks like crap. Her chin is chapped, her nose is running, she scratched/cracked her top lip which is bright red and she refused to take a nap yesterday since she fell asleep in the car for 10 minutes while running errands.) But she loves her chair!!

Easter... Beware of Photo Overload!

We had a great Easter! The Easter Bunny left goodies VERY early just in case I had to go to work (I was on call).

Where's all the Easter Eggs?

My mom's cousin, Dione, has a little boy 2 months older than Ryleigh. He's so sweet and shared his Easter bucket with Ryleigh when she decided she wants his green one instead of her pink one.
From April 2010

To distract the kids while they were hiding the eggs, they went out front to visit the fire truck. My mom's cousin, Doreen, is married to a firefighter. He always works on Easter and he brings his crew to Easter breakfast in the fire truck. The kids always get a kick out of taking a ride around the block in the fire truck on Easter. Ryleigh wasn't too sure about it, but she loved seeing the kids inside it.

Ryleigh loved playing with the balls in the grass. She was taking full advantage of having a backyard to run around and play in since we don't have one at home.

Brady's brother, Keaton, broke the pinata. Chris put Ryleigh down and told her to go get candy. This was her reaction:

It was a busy day. We even missed the big 7.2 earthquake in Baja, Mexico, as we were driving on the freeway. It was so neat seeing all the firsts for Ryleigh. Her first Easter Egg Hunt, her first Pinata. Her first easter basket where she actually opened it herself and knew it was for her. So fun to see it through her eyes.
