Easter Part 2

We all went over to my parents house for dinner. They have a big kid's Easter egg hunt where we find eggs with gift cards inside. I didn't get any photos of that this year. But they got all tricky with their egg hiding. Little did they know payback was coming. My mom and dad gave up alcohol for lent. So for their "easter baskets" Chris and I got mini bottles of beer for my dad and wine for my mom. Then we all hid them throughout the backyard and made them go find their bottles.

Got their baskets ready to go!

*Oh look Cory! You didn't get cut out of this one! Unlike the calendar :)

And they're off!
From 2014 Apr May Jun
We weren't THAT tricky!
From 2014 Apr May Jun
Ryleigh had to follow along to provide commentary.

The big kids just stood around watching - sweet revenge for those touch to find batmans on top of solar lights!!

After Grandma and Grandpa has their "easter egg" hunt, it was time for Ryleigh and Hayden's.

It was Hayden's first Easter Egg Hunt! We made Ryleigh wait inside for a little bit while Hayden got a few.

He quickly got the hang of it!

Even insisted on carrying his own basket!

Then Ryleigh was allowed out.

She knew the tricky spots.

But somehow missed these gems!

Hayden is a smart kid. We tried to get him to get the pink egg on the floor. He didn't care about that one, he wanted the one up on the window sill.

Coaxed Uncle Cory to help him get it.

Oh yeah, there's one down here too!

Another great holiday spent with family. So nice to be able to celebrate with everyone.

Easter 2014 - Part 1

Chris's parents came out this Spring during Linda's spring break, which just happened to coincide with Easter. So we got to celebrate Easter with Linda and Rusty!

They gave Ryleigh and Hayden their Easter presents a day early so they had time to play with them.

On Easter morning, Ryleigh got up, but Hayden was still sleeping! So we let her open our gift to her. It was a box from Kiwi Crate.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
Kiwi Crate is a box subscription that has 2-3 age appropriate crafts for kids. All the supplies for the crafts are in the box. She liked how they sent her scissors since it was her first box. In this box they has supplies to make your own paper, and to make your own stamps and use them on a paper tote bag. It was the Earth Day kit.

When Hayden woke up, he also got to open his box. He got one from Citrus Lane.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
He got a book... coupon for a free card...
From 2014 Apr May Jun
snack bowls...
From 2014 Apr May Jun
And a new car!
From 2014 Apr May Jun

After Hayden opened his box, Ryleigh read her card from the Easter Bunny.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
And then she read Hayden's card from the Easter Bunny. After she read the cards, she got the clues to where the baskets were hiding.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
He first clue was supposed to take her to her art desk - obviously she didn't quite catch the clue.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
Hayden's trying to help too - or get into trouble... likely the latter. She finally realized she was in the wrong spot.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
Then the clue on her art desk sent her to the toy cabinets. She found the clue, but not the new toy! Hayden found the new toy!
From 2014 Apr May Jun
A new golf set since Ryleigh doesn't like sharing her pink set.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
While Ryleigh goes off to figure out the next clue...
From 2014 Apr May Jun
Hayden's determined to go golfing.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
Finally one of the clues was "Where Hayden loves to play." Ryleigh went to his cozy coupe truck, activity table, etc. We asked Hayden where he liked to play and he ran to the pantry and opened the door.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
And he was looking for all kinds of stuff to play with - this time a z-bar. He totally missed his "basket" by his feet.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
"WHAT? I have to play with this instead of my Zbar?"
From 2014 Apr May Jun
He got new pacis, a sand shovel to play with in the water table. And new Julbo sunglasses.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
Ryleigh was off for more clues. This one took her by the front door.
From 2014 Apr May Jun
To find a T-ball set!
From 2014 Apr May Jun
And finally the clue said "go look around where you eat." And right behind her chair in the hutch was her basket.

But that wasn't all. Mom and Dad decided to work with EB for an added surprise. We realized that Hayden wasn't quite ready for a trike, but he was almost too big to put into the stroller all the time. Especially for walks at night. So we got him a ride on trike, that we can push for now, and will convert as he grows to a trike he can pedal on his own without us steering or pushing it. You can tell he LOVES his big boy bike!
From 2014 Apr May Jun
Ryleigh needed a bike too. We've been encouraging her to ride her bike more now getting her ready to ride without training wheels. But we noticed her bike was WAY too small for her. So we had to get an bigger model. She had to do a double take because both her bikes are the same color, both had training wheels, both princesses, etc. The only difference was the size. So she goes out in the garage and was like "wait, theres... two???" She's getting the hang of her new bike. We're keeping the old one around with the training wheels off so she can use it to learn how to ride a bike when the time comes (likely in the fall when it's cooler!).

Pee Wee Company photo

Ryleigh's dance studio owner had a baby in September, so the company photos were completely overlooked. I figured they weren't even going to do them, but then we found out last minute that they were in fact doing them, and Ryleigh's group was going to be included with the company.

Here is their Pee Wee Company Group photo. Such a cute, adorable, sassy groups of little girls.

Happy Birthday Chris!!

For Chris's Birthday, he wanted to go to a hockey game. Ryleigh, Chris and I went and sat in the 5th row! Not too bad!! Forgot how much fun going to hockey games can be. Ryleigh enjoyed it too. We sat over just far enough to avoid flying pucks. There was a guy a few rows down and across the aisle that got hit by a puck and had to get medical attention.

Happy Birthday Chris!! Hope you had fun!!

Notice Ryleigh's tooth in the picture above. It is one stubborn tooth! It was loose FOREVER. We tried a few weeks before this picture to pull it out - my mom, me, even Aunt Kristin (the dentist) tried. Wouldn't come out. After the game, we realized - it NEEDED to come out. It was just being too annoying and it quite literally hanging there. We could get dental floss all the away around it practically. It was hanging by what we guess was the root. Chris finally convinced Ryleigh that it needed to come out and then he yanked hard and it came out. No blood, no tears. But it did have what we assume is the root coming out of the top of the tooth and hanging over the side of it. Pulled it out and it looked like the pulp from inside the tooth came out. I know Ryleigh was just glad to have it out!

March update

In March, we finally bit the bullet and got another gate and installed them on the stairs. This allowed us to be able to watch TV and play upstairs again without worrying about the little monster falling down the stairs.

Hayden loves the new areas to discover. I was sitting there one day watching TV while the kids played. I look down and realize that Hayden has figured out how to crawl under the coffee table. He is quite the curious little guy and loves to try new things out. He's a climber for sure.

Ryleigh was pretty good leading up to her Spring Break, so I took her to Build-A-Bear to finally pick out a bear and build it. She seemed to finally get into the experience and enjoy it.

Stuffing her bear - of course she chose the pink one :)

Washing her bear.

"Hayden, meet Princess Aurora the Bear." Ryleigh was pushing Hayden around the house and Princess Aurora had to tag a long in the back of the truck.

A rare moment - Hayden sitting down playing with his cars. He's always so busy and all over the place, it's not often he sits down and plays nicely with his cars.

In mid-March we went to the Aloha Festival in Tempe. Tried to get a picture of these cuties in their Hawaiian clothes, but Hayden didn't like the sun in his eyes.

He was much happier in the shade!

This is how you entertain Hayden when you need to distract him for a while - Open photos on the ipad, especially photos of Ryleigh. He loves finding pictures of his sister and pointing her out. (Yes, he's wearing a beaded rainbow loom bracelet. That's what happens when he has a sister and wants what she has. He was so happy he had his own bracelet.)

Little man got his first haircut in March. I held on to that silky baby hair as long as I could, but it was getting out of control! He looks like a completely different baby with is hair cut. (Both pictures were taken on the same day!)

This kid is hilarious. Whenever I get out the vacuum or mop, he has to run and grab the swiffer to help clean up the floors. He takes his swiffering very seriously and gets very angry when someone else uses his swiffer.

Ryleigh has become quite the reader. All that work with sight words and spelling words has turned my little kindergartener into a reader. She still guesses at a lot of words, but she has the tools to sound out words, and recognize words. I am very impressed with her progress this year. One night she pulled out this Dr. Suess book and started reading it.

Ryleigh has made Principal's List all 3 quarters at school so far! That means she's gotten straight A's!! So proud of her! She's a smart little cookie just like her mom. And given her mom and dad's high expectations, we expect her to stay on that list!!
