Videos from Ohio

Here are some videos from our trip to Ohio. I know they're a little late, but I just got a new HD video camera for Christmas so I'm trying to get all the video off the flip.

Here's Ryleigh watching the dogs playing in the backyard.

Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I was fortunate enough to be able to switch some of my call, thus allowing me to go to Arizona to spend Christmas with my family. We left on Christmas Eve and got to Arizona round 3:30pm. Ryleigh went down for a nap, while we had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner of Chinese Food and Pizza. Then we went to church.

We got up this morning and opened our stockings. (Santa delivered Ryleigh's present to our place in California. He knew we didn't have room in the car to bring it back, so you'll just have to wait and see what he brought!) Ryleigh got a new Webkins doggie, some weebles, 2 new balls, and many more little toys. Then we had our traditional Christmas breakfast of french toast, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, fruit and bacon. We sat down to eat breakfast and watched the Walt Disney Christmas parade.

After we all got dressed, we got ready to open presents. Ryleigh started us off. She got a little tykes basketball set for the bath tub.
Uncle Cory got Ryleigh a UofA alphabet board book. It has all UofA related things for each letter of the alphabet. (A is for Arizona, B is for Basketball, C is for Cheerleader, D is for dunk, E is for exercise, f is for Football... ;))

And after only about a half hour, Ryleigh was already ready for a nap.

So she went down for a nap, and the rest of us opened the rest of our presents.
Here's my dad comparing his mini HP netbook, to Chris's new 17" HP Blu-Ray laptop.

Once Ryleigh woke up from her nap, she got some more bath toys, Up! for Blu-Ray, and she was so excited to get babies (twins) from Grandma and Grandpa.

She couldn't wait to get them out of the box!

That last picture I was trying to get her interested in opening something else, but she had to keep feeding her baby.
And then Grandma and Grandpa got her a Tickle Me Elmo. She thinks it's so funny. (You can see the boys in the background playing Super Mario Bros on Wii.)

Overall we all had a great Christmas! I got Photoshop (Finally!) so I can play around with photos now. I also got a Eye-Fi for my camera. Makes uploading photos SOOO easy! And I can't wait to try out my body bugg to kick my butt into shape. Chris's big present was his laptop. He also got lots of blu-ray movies. Ryleigh got a vtech kiddilook which is a basically a mini photo frame for kids. Don't worry Mamaw and Papaw, your photos are already loaded on it! So grateful I got the time off to spend the day with my family once again. I know one day it will not be so easy, so I'm thankful for the times it is possible.

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

After Christmas at my grandma's my parents stayed for a few days. I was on call so I was glad my parents could be around. The first day they came over and the fire alarm in my building started going off. It's really annoying, but around the time it starts to get cold, it goes off. No idea why, it just does, except it's usually at 2 or 3am. So I can't complain at it going off between 10am and 12pm. We got tired of the alarm going off, so we decided to take a walk down to the coffee shop for a while. Ryleigh brought a lion from her ark and was so proud of herself when she figured out how to get the lion out of the basket on the back of her stroller.

Later in the day, I went out to run some errands with Topher. We had to get Chris's big Christmas present (a new laptop!) and I needed some tech assistance. Cory, Kristin, Grandma and Grandpa had fun playing with Ryleigh's Little People Village.

Tuesday, I tried to run some errands but got called in for a transplant. Grandma and Grandpa took Ryleigh out to the park to play.

And Wednesday morning, I went back to work early, so Grandma and Grandpa played around again with Ryleigh.

I know Ryleigh had lots of fun with Grandma and Grandma, Chris, Kristin and Cory.

Christmas at Grandma's

December 20, 2009

We always get together with my mom's family on a day other than Christmas to celebrate. This year it was the 20th. My parents came, Chris and his girlfriend Kristin came too along with Cory. Ryleigh got this gorgeous dress for her birthday that is the perfect Christmas dress!

She decided to collect all the leaves in the yard and hand them one by one to Chris.

My cousins Samantha and Matt had fun entertaining Ryleigh with their phones with photos of dogs on them.

After dinner it was present time. Ryleigh got a new hat from Auntie Kim, and she put it on immediately!

She got a Little People Noah's Ark from her GG. She checked it out with Grandpa.

Turns out Nerf guns are a HUGE hit with the 20-25 year old crowd. We did a white elephant gift exchange for the kids and the guns were the gift to get constantly stolen. And we discovered the darts do stick to a baby. (No it was not SHOT at the baby!)

And a photo of all the girls at the end of the night.

Great time getting together with everyone. It was really stressful in the hours leading up to "Christmas" because I had been sick for 3 days after we got back from Ohio, and I only started feeling well enough to leave the house on Saturday. So I had to make my family gifts the day before, and assemble them literally an hour before I left to go to my grandma's. But they turned out great! And it was a great night with family!

Ohio, Day 6... Going home

Monday, December 14, it was time for us to go home. It was actually a warming up when we left. It was almost 60 when we left Van Wert, and by the time we got to the airport in Cinncinati, it was 68ish. Very warm for Ohio in the winter. We even had to change Ryleigh once we got to the airport.

Here's Ryleigh eating some puffs and waiting for the plane to board.
From Ohio Christmas 2009

Again we had problems with our seats, but they were much more accomodating this time around. They changed out seats before everyone boarded, we got the last row. But we missed family boarding, so once again we carried a baby in carseat over people's heads. We got Ryeigh strapped in, we all got settled... then they told us that the minor fuel leak they found, turned out to be a major fuel leak, and we'd have to change planes. Thank goodness there was another plane on standby, or else the flight attendants said it would take about 5-6 hours to fix!

So we were the last ones off the plane. Chris asked if we could board early so we didn't have to knock people in the head on our way to the last row, and thankfully they let us do so. So again we got Ryleigh all settled. Only this time there was no satellite TV in the new plane, so we got lots of fussing out of Ryleigh. She fell asleep once we took off and slept for about an hour, but she was definitely fussy throughout the whole trip back. She was so happy to get off the plane and change scenery. I was just glad that she wasn't the only baby/kid on the flight. There were about 3 other kiddos around us.

We were all so glad to be home. We had lots of laundry to do, but we were glad to be back in our own beds!

Ohio, Day 5

Sunday, December 13, we went to Church with Linda and Rusty. When we got home we took family photos for our Christmas card. Since our first attempt at family photos resulted in Ryleigh in an expressionless stupor.

Here's Ryleigh, getting ready, running around chasing the dog.

Here's how it started - yup, Ryleigh's about to cry:

Such a little stinker!

We did realize how much of a little person Ryleigh is becoming. It's amazing to see how much she's learning, and how quickly she learns it. She exerts her opinions, and communicates very well and is actually trying to say more stuff, even it it's still only single syllables ("ba", "da", "mo", "do", "uh"...).

Ohio, Day 4

Saturday, December 12, we didn't have much planned. Rusty's sisters came over to see everyone. We had a great visit with Tina, Toni, and Hannah.

We all got a good laugh out of it.

At the end of the night, we had to get a picture of Linda and Rusty with all their grandkids.

After the photo, it was time for Tim, Krista, Landon and Kylee to leave. It was great to see them. We realized it had been 3 years since we'd seen them. Landon was Kylee's age at our wedding 3 years ago. That was the last time we'd seen Tim and Krista. Let's hope there's not 3 more years between visits!

Ohio, Day 3... Christmas!

We decided to celebrate Christmas with the Gambles a little early since we were all in town. So Friday, December 11th we woke up and opened presents.

Ryleigh got up and had her bottle with Grandpa.

And Landon was more than ready for Christmas. He couldn't wait. He came in waking everyone up asking them if it was time to open presents.

Linda and Rusty have a Brown's figurine that dances and plays the NFL theme song. Ryleigh figured out how to press the button and loved dancing along with the little football player.

For dinner, Rusty's dad, Bob, and his wife, Carol, came over for dinner. Bob loved Ryleigh :)
