Family photos from Phoenix

I was really disappointed with our 12 month photos of Ryleigh. We had them done at the studio, and the photographer tried so hard to get her to smile and pose, that she missed all her goofy candid expressions and gestures. So for her 18 month photos I wanted to try a location photo shoot and get a new family photo done as well. A girl I cheered with in high school's mom has just started a photography business. I'd seen her photos via Corie's and her blogs, so I know she does great work. I was so happy she was available on such short notice while we were in Phoenix. Thank you again Jamie!!

We went out to Scottsdale to the McCormick Train Park. Such a neat location, but man it was hot that day. Think that was the first day of 110 in Phoenix! Ryleigh wasn't much of a smiler that day, maybe the heat or the new surrounding, but she had fun. She couldn't stop talking about trains the whole way home.

Here are some of our photos from the day.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day, Chris!! You are such a great Daddy!

Today we took Ryleigh to the park. It was really busy at the park this afternoon. Everyone was out enjoying such a gorgeous day!

We walked over to this pizza place in our neighborhood for dinner. I stayed outside at a table, while Chris went in to order. Ryleigh was really worried about dad in there.

Rest of our Phoenix Trip

We were bad on this trip. We did a lot of hanging out and relaxing, so we didn't take as many photos as we usually do.

Wednesday: Ryleigh and I went shopping. We visited a new Super Target in a newer area of town. We found Ryleigh's jellies in PURPLE. We wanted pink, but purple was a good 2nd choice. We also found this adorable newsgirl hat. Ryleigh loves it! Later that night, Ryleigh stayed home with Gramma and Grampa, while I went to dinner with my line sister, Heather. I haven't seen her since Ryleigh was 2 months old!! So needless to say we had A LOT to catch up on! Then I went to pick Chris up from the airport. Then late that night, my brother, Cory, came up from Tucson to visit.

Thursday: Chris and Ryleigh got to hang out together while I went off to get my hair cut. I also went out to Midwestern University to say hi to my teachers. When my mom got home from work, we went shopping! I had some coupons to use and thank goodness I found my favorite LOFT dress in a different color to wear to my reunion, because the coral colored one would have looked awful with my wonderful sunburn I got Friday.

Friday: Chris, Ryleigh and I went out to McCormick Train Park and met up with a Corie and her mom Jamie. I cheered with Corie in high school. We needed to get some 18 month (yeah we're a month late) photos of Ryleigh and we needed a new family photo, so Jamie took some for us. We are excited to see how they turned out! We had a great time at the train park (despite the 100 degree weather - where the sunburn was obtained). It was Ryleigh's first time riding "rides". She went on the carousel and the train around the park and LOVED it! Ryleigh couldn't stop talking about the trains the whole way home. Since we were already on the East side of town, we decided to go look at some houses over in that area. We mostly wanted to see just how far away they were. They are really far out there!

On our way to get photos taken. Guess she was in a daze all day. Here she's bouncing her hand to the beat of the music.

After we got home she needed a swim. She somehow picked up this funky run where she'd put her arm up and lead with her shoulder whenever she was running somewhere.

Saturday: My mom had to go to urgent care in the morning. She got bit by some bug on her shoulder that got really infected. A huge swollen/red area was moving onto her side, so she had to get it looked at. So Grampa took Ryleigh to see Great Grandma Steele, since Gramma was out of commission. I went and got a mani/pedicure and relaxed before my reunion. It's been 10 years since I graduated high school!!! Doesn't seem like that much time has passed, but I guess I have accomplished a lot in 10 years. We had our reunion at Dave & Busters. It was a nice environment to have it in, but I was disappointed more people didn't come. It was weird the people that came back though. The ones I thought for sure would come were no shows, and several I never though would care to come, showed up. It was great to see people (in person!) and catch up on life. Afterwards, Chris and I played skee-ball for over an hour trying to beat each other's scores. Ryleigh got to stay home with Gramma, Grampa, and Cory while Chris and I went out. Looks like she had tons of fun! It was a great day.

And the only photo I took at my reunion. Krista, Me and Amber.

Sunday: Today we drove back to reality. We were happy to leave behind the 110 degrees and welcomed the 60 degrees we came back to. It was nice being warm for a week, but the cool weather was a nice reprieve. Overall it was a great, relaxing trip!

Girls Trip!

My 10 year reunion is this weekend!!! So we had to make a trip to Phoenix for it. Since Chris could only get a few days off work, I decided to take the entire week off and drive out to Phoenix early and have a little girls trip with Ryleigh.

Here's a photo from when I was packing our bags to leave. Other than the outfit she's wearing, this ensamble is COMPLETELY a RYLEIGH ORIGINAL!

We left Monday around 1ish, hoping Ryleigh would fall asleep in the car. She enjoyed watching Mickey Mouse club the ENTIRE way to Phoenix. Now if I hear the "tick tock, tick tock, gotta find the coo-coo-clock" chant one more time.... She did really well on the trip. Traffic was not bad at all. I would have figured more people would have gone to California for the long weekend, but I guess the desert attracted everyone, as traffic was much worse on the other side.

Before we left, Ryleigh began this obsession with bears. They've reached the popularity of babies in Ryleigh's world. The night before we left she would not go to bed without her bear. My parents had given her a gift certificate for Build-a-Bear for Christmas. While she's still a little young, I figured it was a great time to let her have her first experience. I let her choose her bear (she picked the softest one, which also happens to be the allergy/asthma bear, woo no dust!). Then we waited in line to get her bear stuffed. She was already so attached to her bear, she didn't like having to give the bear to the man to stuff. When he gave it to her to test out, she didn't want to give it back to him to sew up :) Then I told her that bear needed a bath to get all his fuzzies off. She threw it in the tub and ran away sobbing. After a little coaxing she gave bear a bath. And she LOVED picking out clothes for bear, which made it all better. I picked out 3 cute dresses, and Ryleigh chose the pink one. Here she is loving her bear.

After her nap, she went and played in the backyard with Uncle Chris and Kristin. She was getting so wet, we just went for the swimsuit. She was so proud of her ability to step in and out of the pool.
