Picnic in Malibu

Today the chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dr. Trento, hosted his annual picnic at his house in Malibu. I forgot to send the directions from my Cedars email to my home email figuring I could access the Cedars email at home like usual... but the online email system was down. So I called around during Ryleigh's nap trying to find someone to send it to me. Finally in my waiting, I found the directions I sent myself from LAST YEAR! So we left as soon as Ryleigh woke up from her nap. But it still took us 2 hours to get to Malibu (yeah we don't live that far!) PCH was jam packed with all the people going to the beach. It was one of the first really nice beach days we've had this year.
His house is gorgeous. Right off PCH. Even driving through the gate we still didn't really see a "house", but you walk in directly from the driveway down into the house and it's build into the hill.

Here's Ryleigh trying out grass again (this time with shoes on):

And here's some pictures of the gorgeous view.

The drive back wasn't much fun either. But it was still a gorgeous day, and a beautiful view once we got there.

Random hodge-podge update

Finished all my cleaning while the bug is asleep, so I can finally update the blog. I've been waiting for pictures my parents have of Ryleigh in her Float Suit... she looks like she's wearing a super hero costume, but I haven't received them yet (*hint hint*). So here's an update anyways.

Belated HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to CHRIS!!! Ryleigh is lucky to have such a great DADDY! We love you!

I got a video of Ryleigh's head balance uploaded finally:

Ryleigh loved the super coupe at Grandma and Grandpa's in Arizona. By the end of our stay she was cruising all the tile roaming all around the kitchen and living room. She loved it so much we had to get one because she loves just sitting in it more than her jumper. Guess she feels she has more freedom?

The cruising in the super coupe gave Ryleigh so much confidence. She's now cruising the furniture going from couch to ottoman, to chair, and back. And she loves her newfound freedom:

This past weekend we rearranged Ryleigh's room. While I was moving stuff around, I put her in the crib to play. She kept looking at me through the bars like she was a hostage. Then she figured out how to pull herself up. She wouldn't let me get the pull up on video though, I tried. She also started saying Ma-Ma-Ma on Saturday. I accidently caught the first time she did it on tape.

This is Ryleigh's new "I'm kinda tired, maybe I need a nap soon pose." It's too cute!

And this last video is hilarious. BEWARE! TURN DOWN your VOLUME! A little girl shouldn't be allowed to squeal this loud!

Grass and the pool

Today we ventured outside for some fun.

She got all decked out in her swimsuit and her shades:

Can you tell she kept trying to pull off the sunglasses?

Then we tried to get her to walk in the grass.

She didn't like that much :) Obviously we need to go to the park and play in the grass more often!

Then we tried the pool. Chris walked her in slow, and as soon as her feet hit the water:

Took her a long time to warm up to the pool (and it wasn't cold, it was 81 degrees!) but eventually we distracted her enough to get her wet.

But man she was happy to get out:

Then we went out to dinner at Arizona Pizza Company. Not CPK, but the bbq chicken pizza was pretty good. Overall it was a good day.

On Monday we had an appointment to see the plastic surgeon again to get the results of Ryleigh's CT Scan. The doctor said that there is no dura (brain) involved, so we can get the lump removed in an out patient procedure. We haven't scheduled it yet, but it will probably be end of summer as that's when the surgeon will have openings.

I also took Ryleigh to the pediatrician on Monday because she'd been pulling at her ears. I know it's part of teething (we've stopped at a total of 5 in 2 weeks) but I wanted to make sure it wasn't an ear infection since we were leaving for Arizona Tuesday afternoon. She weighed 19 pounds 3 oz (with clothes on). No ear infection, so it's just her teeth.

We drove to Arizona on Tuesday afternoon in LA traffic. Added an extra hour to the trip. Got to Glendale around midnight. Ryleigh didn't do too bad on the trip, but tired baby + long car ride = cranky baby.

Today we took Ryleigh to get pictures taken. I've been a bad mom and not taken her to get professional pictures yet. Since I was off work and had time, it needed to be done. Here's some pictures of the pictures (too lazy to scan them all).

Silly Sleeper

Ryleigh's latest parental annoyance... I mean sleep positions:

Went in at 5am to check on her and she was on her back. Got ready for work at at 6:15 went in again to get something out of her room before I left and this is what I found:

And this is her latest. This is how she ends up when she's going to bed or getting up from sleeping:

Wouldn't be a problem, except she can't roll onto her back.
