Disney World - Day 5: Breakfast at 'Ohana and the pool

Wednesday, we were up super early for breakfast at 'Ohana at the Polynesian Resort. Our reservation was at 7:50 which meant we had to be downstairs and ready to go before 7:30!! And I had to check in for my meeting before hand too! The Polynesian hotel was very nice. Felt like I'd walked into Hawaii.
Waiting in line to check in.

Ryleigh can see the characters coming. Breakfast was neat here. It's served family style. So a plate of fruit was already on the table along with juice. A skillet with eggs, biscuits, potatoes, bacon and sausage was brought out. You could have as much or as little of something. If you needed more, you just had to ask. Every 10-15 min or so they'd come around with fresh Mickey shaped waffles in a basket. Again, all you had to do was catch them as they came around. We thought it was a cool way to serve food. Made for a very quick breakfast.

And because our reservation was so early, there weren't very many people there. Notice all the empty seats! We got to see all the characters really quickly too.

Here's Lilo making fun of me for not having my camera in the right mode :)

Once again - front of the line for the dance to "Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride". This has been one my favorite "Hawaiian" songs since freshman year of college. One of those quirky happy songs. I was singing along when they were dancing :)

After Breakfast, we wandered around the Polynesian Resort for a while and did some shopping. Ryleigh got a new dress and a little Stitch. When we got back to our hotel, Ryleigh and Chris relaxed and got ready to hit the pool while I went down to my conference. This day we did our demonstration of our new simulator that we use to perform scenarios for our students. The demo went well. I had to play surgeon and got to work with a girl who is an instructor at Rush University who played the perfusionist. Our second year students (who did not work with this simulator) were blown away by it. So many of them ran up to me saying "why didn't we get that?!" Neat to hear that they think it would have been a useful tool for them.

Chris and Ryleigh hit up the pool - Finally! Ryleigh was DYING to go in the pool. I think she's officially found her inner fish. Which means swim lessons are a must this year. I met Chris and Ry down by the pool for lunch at the poolside restaurant. Then had to go back to my meeting for a while. After my meeting we'd intended to go back to a park, but we were tired! So we all lounged around, and took naps.

Here's Ryleigh playing on her iPod Touch. Chris pointed out that her headphones weren't plugged in, but she thought they were serving a purpose. Notice her little Stitch. He's so cute!

But Stitch did get in some trouble. He decided he needed to watch a show too!

By 9pm we decided we needed food, but we didn't want to get dressed up to get any. So we ordered room service - Grilled Cheese, Chicken Fingers, and Cake. Not the healtiest, but it's vacation. Ryleigh decided she JUST wanted Carrot Cake for dinner. It was good!

We all caught up on some sleep and rested up for the rest of our Disney Adventures.

Disney World - Day 4: Magic Kingdom

Tuesday, we went to Magic Kingdom. Ryleigh had been waiting since we got there to meet Princesses. So the first place we went was to meet Rapunzel. We waited in line for about an hour. But Ryleigh got to meet one of her favorite princesses.

Ryleigh was in a funk this day. She was grumpy and had an attitude. This is how we put her in time out when she wouldn't stop whining and crying.

And Aurora (aka. Sleeping Beauty). She got a set of baby princess pins and a lanyard to wear them on. She had to show each princess her specific baby princess pin. It was cute.

The castle all lit up. It's gorgeous. But I was sad you couldn't walk through it like you can at Disneyland.

And to finish the night - the Electric Light Parade!!! I remember seeing that show at Disneyland when I was a kid with my Grandma. It brought back so many memories.

Disney World - Day 3: Hollywood Studios

Monday we went to Disney Hollywood Studios. We got there right as the park opened and got a free fast pass to the 11am stunt show. We headed straight toward the Rock 'n' Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror. By now we know the ropes for using the parent swap and used it to our advantage that day. We only waited less than 10 minutes for both rides. Rock 'n' Rollercoaster was awesome!! And Tower of Terror was a nice twist from the one in California.

Then we headed to the Cars stunt show. It was AMAZING!! So awesome to watch the chase scenes up close and see just how close those cars get to each other. They told you some cool tricks about how they do all those stunts. And Lightning even made an appearance.

All the stunt cars. Car on the left is built backwards, so the driver looks out of the back of the car. Good for all those backwards driving tricks. Car in the middle is the forward stunt car. And the one on the right has a guy sitting on a side carriage mounted to the side of the car for certain tricks.

For lunch we went to the Play n Dine for lunch with characters from Disney Junior shows. While we were waiting outside, Ryleigh was practicing "twirling". We kept telling her to stop and sit down, but she insisted. She twirled and fell to the ground hitting her head on the leg of the metal bench. She immediately got a huge red and purple goose-egg. Thankfully we weren't far from the front of the park and the first aid station. I walked down there and they were so helpful. They got us an ice pack and children's Tylenol very quickly without much hassle and information regarding head injuries and signs to watch for. First time finding the first aid station at a Disney park! But nothing gets Ryleigh down! She goes on like nothing's wrong. We went in to eat lunch and she was so excited to see all the characters!

Disney World - Day 2: Epcot

Since we didn't get to an urgent care on Saturday night, I wanted to get Ryleigh's cut looked at because I didn't know how to care for it. Do you change the bandages daily? Just wait for the steri-strip to fall off? Use neosporin? Vitamin E? Bacitracin? Did it need skin glue? So we got ready and headed down stairs. The front desk called the urgent care for us to arrange transportation and the urgent care people were very rude. Basically they didn't want to touch it because it was too close to her eye and wanted us to go to the ER if we really wanted care. So we went to my trusted Minute Clinic at CVS. I have found them easy to get in and get seen quickly. Well the one we went to was crowded at 10am when they opened. And to add to it, their computer system was down. So it took a long time to be seen - 2 hours! In the end she took the bandage off and saw that it was already healing shut nicely. So she replaced the steri-strip, told me to apply Bacitracin, and wait for the steri-strip to fall off. Then we went back to the hotel and Ryleigh took a nap and we all rested. Then we went to Epcot when she got up.

It's the middle of the Flower and Garden festival at Epcot. There's tons Disney topiaries. Ryeligh and I loved the Fairy Garden.

Then we discovered all the Princesses were throughout the countries. And they were all finishing up for the night :( Ryleigh was not happy about that. So we tried to head over to see Duffy. And discovered he went home for the night too. But along the way we found some more topiaries.

Then we headed to get a spot to see the Illuminations show. It was a very neat show. We decided we needed to come back to hit the rest of the countries. We only made it Italy and had to stop. Definitely a lot bigger park than I ever imagined!
