Weekend update

It's amazing how much growing up it seems Ryleigh has done in the past few weeks. She can now hold her bottle:

Brush her teeth. She's learning early how to lounge in the water:

Sit up:

And yesterday we tried her in a highchair without a ton of blankets around her and she enjoyed it:

Today Ryleigh had her first solid (aside from rice cereal) 1 week short of her 6 month bday: Sweet Potatoes! She loved them! No good faces, no spitting it out... actually it was rather anticlimactic, but we still took a video.

Yesterday we test drove high chairs. Ryleigh LOVES her new highchair!!! Thank you Uncle Andy, Auntie Bonnie, and Lane!!!

New photo album

We just take too many photos of Ryleigh. I discovered that picasaweb mobile (or whatever version shows up on my ipod touch) only displays 100 photos, even if your album had more than that many photos actually in the album. If you use the computer you can view all the photos, but when I try to show Ryleigh off at work, I can't access the most recent photos.

So since Ryleigh is almost half a year old, I decided it was time to split up her photos into a new album. The links to the new album are under the photos tab, and divided by her age (0-4months, 4 months to present).

Easter Pictures

Day before Easter. We were trying to find a headband, and it just turned into a 80's work out video:

We found a better headband:

With grandpa at Easter Brunch at my Aunt Teri's house (still chomping on those binkies, Easter bunny got some good ones!):

And finally a Pruett Family Easter picture (it's horrible when there's more than one photographer, you don't know what camera to look at, but we all look good at least):

There's more in the photo album!

Noises, Sitting up, and the Easter Bunny

Chris's mom came out to visit at the end of March. Ryleigh enjoyed the 1 on 1 undivided attention. Pictures to come (I need to raid Chris's camera to steal pictures).

Chris turned 32 on March 29!! He's getting old ;) He celebrated his birthday babysitting while I did a liver transplant. Gotta love being on call... Here are some pictures of Ryleigh before and after we went out to dinner with Linda for Chris's birthday on the 28th.

Then one day last week, Ryleigh discovered a new trick, the art of sticking her tongue out and spitting. It is rather adorable. Even melts your heart when she's on your last nerve. And we caught it on video:

On April 3, Ryleigh started sitting up for the first time on her own. She went from falling forward (or sideways) instantly to a no-hands-sit-up-by-herself-for-a-long-period-of-time overnight. Now she will just sit on the floor playing with all her toys. And totally forgotten that she can roll onto her tummy. Maybe she's filing that trick for later. Just wish she'd learn to roll from her tummy to her back so when she does fall over to her tummy she can figure out how to get "un-stuck".

My mom came in yesterday to babysit today. We had no sitter, and she had the day off. We took Ryleigh to get a picture with the Easter Bunny (since we forgot about Santa... oops). She didn't seem to mind him, but she wasn't totally thrilled either.

I also think Ryleigh's been teething because she's super fussy lately. No signs of a tooth yet. The last ones popped up so fast, I knew it was too much to hope they'd all come in that quick. She's also sleeping a ton. Wakes up at 7:30, plays for 2 hours, sleeps for 2 hours plus. Wakes up looking tired, eats, plays until about 3 or 4. Wakes up and plays until 7 when she's ready to get a bath and in bed by 8:30. And when she's up she just looks tired. Maybe it's a growth spurt, not sure. Other than that we're gearing up for Easter. My dad is driving out with my brothers tomorrow. We're going to my aunt's house for Easter with my mom's family. It'll be a madhouse with 60 some odd people there, an Easter pinata, Easter egg hunt, tons of food and gossip. It will be the first Easter without Kaydee who always did a lot in preparation for the day, so I know her presence will be missed greatly.

Happy Easter Everyone!

5 months!

Ryleigh took her first plane trip last weekend. We flew back to Phoenix to visit my parents. She's been doing this thing where one day she takes a 4 hour nap and the next she refuses to nap period while sleeping the same at night. So the flight out she was really fussy and grumpy. The flight back I figured out that putting a blanket over her head she slept on the plane. She's at that age where everything distracts her because she's taking it all in. So getting her to fall asleep on a plane with so many distractions was a challenge.

She got to enjoy some of her warm weather clothes too:

On Monday, Ryleigh figured out how to roll over... FINALLY! Just in time for her 5 month bday. And I caught it on video on Tuesday.

And she just started laughing out loud a lot more. I'm so glad I caught it on tape on Wednesday.

Okay quick video update. I finally figured out how to upload video, so here's my trial attempt. Real update coming later this week with more videos (hopefully).

4 months old today!

Where does time go?! Wow, okay I'm an update slacker. I didn't realize it had been a whole month!

Ryleigh decided that 2 teeth were enough for now. Since her teeth came in she's been chomping on everything. It helps that she now has the coordination to put stuff in her mouth, although that came AFTER she got the teeth. She actually uses teethers now. Sophie is still her favorite toy. She's also become a fan of these taggie "blankets" I've made (essentially 2 squares of fabric with ribbons sewn along the sides). For whatever reasons babies love sucking on tags.

My parents came out to visit at the beginning of the month and brought Ryleigh her Jumperoo. She got it for Christmas, but was a little too young for it. Now she is starting to enjoy it.

And we went to my cousin's Baptism around the beginning of the month.

Ryleigh's new thing is falling asleep with stuff over her face. Guess she takes after her mom.
From Ryleigh Grace

She sleeps through the night and has for a while. We finally have a night routine, and she's pretty good about sticking to it even if we try to keep her up longer. It's bath at 8, food at 8:30, and bed by 9. She'll sleep til 7 or 8am. She's started to get a witching hour around 5-7pm. She just fusses and doesn't let you put her down, and won't even let you sit down while holding her.

She still has the best pouty face. And even does it in her sleep.
From Ryleigh Grace

Alright so here's the real update. We went to the doctor today. She weighs 13 pounds, 14 ounces, 24" long, 42cm head circumference. She got 4 vaccines again (1 oral, 3 shots). Poor baby has been sleeping or groggy most of the day. It was funny b/c she's starting to recognize strangers. You could tell she didn't trust the doctor, she kept looking at him and looking back at me with this pouty face like "wait a second this isn't normal". So there ya have it! She's getting big. She's almost completely moved into 3-6 months clothes. There's a few 3 month Carters stuff that still fits her, but not for much longer. I give it another two weeks tops.

Ryleigh has been grabbing at and reaching for stuff now. It went from grabbing a toy we were handing her, to now reaching for our drinks as we drink them.
From Ryleigh Grace

Hope that's enough of an update for now. We've been busy with work and watching Ryleigh grow. One day I'll get around to uploading some videos we've taken of her.
