Ohio, Day 6... Going home

Monday, December 14, it was time for us to go home. It was actually a warming up when we left. It was almost 60 when we left Van Wert, and by the time we got to the airport in Cinncinati, it was 68ish. Very warm for Ohio in the winter. We even had to change Ryleigh once we got to the airport.

Here's Ryleigh eating some puffs and waiting for the plane to board.

Again we had problems with our seats, but they were much more accomodating this time around. They changed out seats before everyone boarded, we got the last row. But we missed family boarding, so once again we carried a baby in carseat over people's heads. We got Ryeigh strapped in, we all got settled... then they told us that the minor fuel leak they found, turned out to be a major fuel leak, and we'd have to change planes. Thank goodness there was another plane on standby, or else the flight attendants said it would take about 5-6 hours to fix!

So we were the last ones off the plane. Chris asked if we could board early so we didn't have to knock people in the head on our way to the last row, and thankfully they let us do so. So again we got Ryleigh all settled. Only this time there was no satellite TV in the new plane, so we got lots of fussing out of Ryleigh. She fell asleep once we took off and slept for about an hour, but she was definitely fussy throughout the whole trip back. She was so happy to get off the plane and change scenery. I was just glad that she wasn't the only baby/kid on the flight. There were about 3 other kiddos around us.

We were all so glad to be home. We had lots of laundry to do, but we were glad to be back in our own beds!

Ohio, Day 4

Saturday, December 12, we didn't have much planned. Rusty's sisters came over to see everyone. We had a great visit with Tina, Toni, and Hannah.

Ryleigh just sat with Tina and refused to move. She just stared at Tim and kept eyeing Chris and I.

We all got a good laugh out of it.

At the end of the night, we had to get a picture of Linda and Rusty with all their grandkids.

After the photo, it was time for Tim, Krista, Landon and Kylee to leave. It was great to see them. We realized it had been 3 years since we'd seen them. Landon was Kylee's age at our wedding 3 years ago. That was the last time we'd seen Tim and Krista. Let's hope there's not 3 more years between visits!

Ohio, Day 3... Christmas!

We decided to celebrate Christmas with the Gambles a little early since we were all in town. So Friday, December 11th we woke up and opened presents.

Ryleigh got up and had her bottle with Grandpa.

And Landon was more than ready for Christmas. He couldn't wait. He came in waking everyone up asking them if it was time to open presents.

Once everyone was ready, Landon dug right in!

After presents, we ate cinnamon rolls and got ready for the day. Here's Miss RyRy all dolled up.

Linda and Rusty have a Brown's figurine that dances and plays the NFL theme song. Ryleigh figured out how to press the button and loved dancing along with the little football player.

For dinner, Rusty's dad, Bob, and his wife, Carol, came over for dinner. Bob loved Ryleigh :)

Ohio, Day 2

Thursday, we had nothing planned, and it was only 16 degrees outside. So we did lots of indoor activities. We made cookies. Ryleigh played with Grandma a lot. I knitted and finished a hat for Ryleigh. Ryleigh had a lot of fun playing with Linda and Rusty's dog, Buster. She's definitely learned to say "dog" now.
(I know this one's blurry, but so cute) Ryleigh crouching down to get the dog's attention.

After one of Ryleigh's naps, she was in one of her stoopers. She sat with Grandpa for quite a while just staring. He tried to play peek-a-boo with her, but she just left the blanket there!

I tried to get a picture of her under the blanket. "Mom, no pictures, I'm hiding!"

Later they all watched the Browns beat the Steelers. And Ryleigh had to model the hat.

Chris's brother, Tim, his wife, Krista, and their kids, Landon and Kylee came during the middle of the Browns game. Ryleigh didn't know what to do with another person to play with and another dog (they brought their dog too). Ryleigh had a blast chasing 2 doggies around the house. It was a late night!

Ohio here we come! Day 1

We are in Ohio visiting Chris's family. We left on Wednesday, December 9, 2009.

We checked in the day before (22 hours in advance) and the only seats they had available for us to choose from were 2 middle and 1 aisle all in completely different rows. So we woke up at 2am to get to the airport at 4:30am for our 6:20am flight to try to change our seats. At check in they couldn't fix anything, but told us to go to the gate where they would try to do something. So we go through security. In the line at security Chris tells me that the lady in front of me is someone famous. She looked kinda familiar, but I had no idea who she was. Her lack of travel knowledge (having to go through the metal detector two or three times to remove a bracelet and hair clip, not removing her laptop from the bag) gave us extra time to try to figure out who she was. (Once we got internet we figured out it was Andie McDowell).

Here's Ryleigh past security in her cool sit-n-stroll. The wheels fold up into the bottom of the carseat. Made traveling rather easy.

Got to the gate and they couldn't fix our seats until everyone was boarded. So finally after everyone on, and got all our seats in the same row. We board, go to our row, start to get settled, when the flight attendants come to tell us that we aren't allowed to sit there with a carseat due to it being in such close proximity to an exit row. Kind of annoying since the gate people knew we had a carseat! So then they told us to go to the first coach row (bulkhead). We put Ry in her seat and find out her TSA approved carseat is too big for the seats with the stationary arm rests! So we try to get the flight attendant's help, to no avail. So the people in the row behind us offer to switch rows with us. We could not have been more thankful! We asked for a seat belt extender and had to explain to both flight attendants why we needed one to justify them getting one for us, which was just beyond annoying by that point.

But finally, we got settled on the plane.

And they had satellite TV, so after a few minutes in the air and a little Nickelodeon, Ryleigh was out!
From Ohio Christmas 2009

The flight was really good, and Ryleigh did great. She even flirted with the people in front of us (who switched rows with us) when we were de-planing. We got tons of compliments from other passengers telling us how impressed they were with Ryleigh's travel skills.
From Ohio Christmas 2009

When we got to Cinncinati, it was a freezing 36 degrees out with 50mph winds. So Ryleigh got bundled up when we went to get the rental car!

Here's some photos of Cincinnati. Kinda reminded me of my drive from Indianapolis to Denver, all the random photos of the city from the highway.

We had to stop to get Chris's favorite Donato's Pizza on the way to his parents house. On the way we passed an indoor waterpark. I had to get a picture, since I'd never seen one before!

And the black cloud snow storm we drove through.

But we finally made it to Van Wert, cold and all! Forcast for Day 2 of our trip, 17 degrees as a high.
