This year Ryleigh is in the Pee Wee company group at her studio. They are actually just pre-company, so they performed at Glendale Glitters in December, and they only did one of the several competitions that the rest of the company groups do. The one competition they did was Showstoppers in February.
We had to get ready and trek to the complete opposite side of town an hour and a half away. We had to figure out what to wear to not mess up hair, as well as how to put a 5 year old in a 5 point harness booster seat and not mess up the hair. Oh yeah, and the hair is just a TAD too short to be in the high ponytail it needs to be in. The answer - GEL, Mousse, And GOBS of hairspray to get the pony tail in. A fake hairpiece around the ponytail to make the ponytail appear higher on her head. And a silk shower cap to avoid messing it up in the car.
Diva in training. I'm in trouble in 10 years if she looks this pretty at 5!!!
All dressed and ready to go! This is her friend Brynn. They're also in the same combo (non-company) dance class. They danced together last year as well.
Miss Sassy Pants!
And another one with Claire.
The whole group pretty and ready to go.
They danced to "Cheese Please" from "Ratatouille". Their dance was super cute!! And they did great at competition!! So proud of these girls!
They got first place in their division and were able to go to Nationals at Disneyland. Nationals for us was optional this year. Four of the girls have older siblings and are going anyways, so they will be doing Cheese Please at Nationals. The rest of us moms realized that our kids are only 5 years old. Once they put in the work required to truly be part of company and do more than one dance, then it will be worth it to go to Nationals.
During awards time, Ryleigh was selected to go up and get the trophy.
They all got individual medals and the trophy goes back to the studio to display.
The girls and their trophy.
My little dancer!
On the way to the competition we were eating Chick-Fil-A in the car. Ryleigh mentioned she thought she had a loose tooth. I told her we'd just checked them, so while I thought it was possible to start getting lose, there's no way it was "fall out" loose. For dinner we went to Sweet Tomatoes and again she mentioned that eating hurt her tooth. On the way home she played with that tooth the whole way home. I told her to go try to pull it out if she thought it was that loos when she got in the house. She got out of the car and ran inside. I wasn't far behind her and by the time I got inside she had already pulled it out with her bare hand. That's lost tooth #3!
